Headin' South

Hey Guys,

Well the funding didn't come through so I start my official grown-up type job at Oxford University Press on the 11th of September (Hannah count me in for Hispanic night!). So I head South on the 2nd having found a room in a house to live in. So I shall now reside in room 5, Kingslea House, 1 Oxford Road, Littlemore, Oxford( it does have a postcode, I just don't know it yet). So if anyone is ever around Oxford feel free to drop in. Plus being closer to London means I have no excuse not to come and see you all more often....
Hope your all ok. I'll see some of you at Hannah's.
Love,
Kathryn

Actually Friday 8th September

GOOD NEWS - Anna is going to come down to the big smoke to see us, so the much hailed Hispanic night has been moved to Friday 8th September so we can make the most of Miss Massey. Not a lot has happened to me since my last post so I don't have a lot more to add... See you all soon Hannah xxx

The Festival City

Tis the month of the Edinburgh Festival and the city has come more than ever to resemble a bloated cambridge (hoards of foreign schoolkids, american fatties and old folks is what I mean). But this time we have those nobs who paint themselves silver and think that the robot dance is a good way to earn money. Well, I for one hope it rains. Yes, I am now a fully fledged member of the grumbling locals society, fed-up because every bus journey takes twice as long, Princes Street is full of wankers and all the pubs have doubled their prices. This last bit is really true, in line with making everyone believe that London prices are normal, Edinburgh takes its turn at charging £8 for a pint of hoegaarden. That'll be me at the back with a bottle of Lambrini then.

To celebrate the coming of the edinburgh festival we have left the city. Although there are loads of fun and interesting things happenning everywhere you go in the town centre, you can't see them because of the toddler sitting on her dads shoulders right in front of you. Anyone would think it was a family day out or something.
So off we went to the Pittenweem Art Festival. Pittenweem is a picturesque little fishing village/town in the kingdom of Fife (10 blogging points to the person who can explain why Fife insists on calling itself a kingdom). It has become home to many jobbing artists who open their houses for one week every year to the general public to exhibit their work. Then they sell maybe two or three pieces and live on the proceeds for the other 51 weeks (Honestly, I'd have done that foundation degree if I'd realised how much those pasta collages would sell for, actually, maybe I could just train as a primary teacher and exploit the wee'uns). Anyway, to move on, it is a lovely place and a grand day out with chips and ice cream and tea rooms, and a chance to have a nose in other peoples houses; always a good day out. For my part I contributed to passing on the 'bloated cambridge' syndrome to this village by having an expensive cream tea and painting myself silver.

Next week we're off to a close-to-the-bone comedian called doug stanhope, if we don't come away seriously offended by at least part of the show I want my money back! Check him out at www.dougstanhope.com and scroll down to the heading "irish women are too ugly to rape". Now who wouldn't pay good money for that?

hello everyone, andy here

i thoroughly apporove of this blog but have done absolutely nothing interesting, which is why i haven't posted anything on it. so here are some photos of people which i found on my computer. hispanic night sounds cool hannah.

sorry to jenny for not making it to the meal. al was found unexpectedly in the north london in the afternoon and i by the evening i was too drunk to contemplate such a journey. are you still go for durham? are you looking forward to it? i'm soory to have been so lame in general. i have no job hence no money which is why i never call anyone and ask if they want to have fun. but soon.....

Hello All

I have been very rubbish recently, what is everyone up to? Fred how are the interviews and househunting going? Jenny was lvely to see you. Chris are you suitably orientated in Japan and have you started your job yet? Anna how is it all going? It sounds like very hard work, are you enjoying it? Are you quite settled in Edinburgh now? Just wanted to let you all know we are having a Hispanic Night at 10 Digby Mansions in Hammersmith on Sat 9th Sept, everyone welcome. Hispanic because it will involve tapas and tequila (nothing to do with the fact that we have acquired a somewhat dodgy bottle of tequila recently...). If you live in London can you bring a dish/bread/bottle/salad/something that can be consumed and if you live outside of London just bring yourself. I know most of you are too far flung but would be great to see those of you who can make it - I can promise you a not very comfy patch of floor. Wow, along with the tequila I don't know how you can resist.

Enjoy the weekend chicos, Hannah xxx

No more puzzling for me...

No I haven't over done it on the crossword again.
I've decided to follow your advice and take the job with Oxford University Press and then wait and see what happens with funding. So yeah, as of early September I shall be in Oxford. After I've found a house that is...

love
Kathryn
